The next Perspectives Lecture will focus on careers using Languages. The panel will draw upon our speakers' range of experiences to reflect on the diverse range of opportunities and the skills required to succeed.
‘Perspectives’ is a series of free, public lectures hosted by Bolton School. They are free to attend and open to pupils in Year 9 and above, parents, alumni, and all other members of the School and local community.

Monica Sobrero (Class of 1990)
After moving to the UK from Italy in 1984, Monica joined the Girls’ Division in Year 8 and soon settled in, thriving on the encouragement and praise from her teachers whose energy and enthusiasm for all things European was infectious. After studying French and Italian with European Studies at the University of Sussex, Monica went on to work in marketing before making the bold decision to set up as a Freelance Translator and Interpreter in court and tribunal hearings, police stations, prisons, medical conventions and many more situations.
Sadie Scorah (Class of 2009)
After leaving Bolton School in 2009 Sadie went on to study French and Russian at the University of Leeds. Having always wanted a career in hospitality Sadie joined Hilton in 2014 as part of their Elevator program. Since then she has worked in four different departments in cities across Europe, expanding her language skillset along the way. Sadie now oversees all operational departments in her role as Director of Operations at Hilton London Paddington.
Kallol Sen (Class of 1994)
Kallol lives in Frankfurt and works for the European Central Bank. He developed (amongst other things) a taste for languages at Bolton School and then studied Classics at the University of Oxford. He subsequently taught English - and learned German - for a couple of years in Germany before moving to London to complete a Chartered Accountancy qualification as well as a Masters course at the London School of Economics. After nine years in the private sector he moved to the Bank of England and then the ECB. Kallol lives in a multi-lingual household and enjoys working in an environment that brings together people from varied linguistic backgrounds.
Benjamin Fletcher (Class of 2020)
Born in February 2002, Benjamin grew up in Worsley where he attended Broadoak Primary School before gaining a place at Bolton School. He remained at Bolton school for Sixth form, taking French, Russian and History for his A-levels. In 2020, after quite a disruptive year due to COVID, he then went on to the University of Edinburgh to study French and Russian Studies. Now, he is in his third year of university which is also his year abroad. Since September he has spent his time in Lyon, France and in the summer, as his second part of year, he will study in Riga, Latvia. He will then return to Edinburgh in September for his final year before starting his career in the armed forces.
