Sue Faulkner, the former Head of Bolton School Junior Boys and current Head of Beech House, the Foundation’s Infant School, has become Head of the School’s newly created Primary Division.

Reflecting on her appointment, Sue said: ‘I am thrilled that the Governors have taken the bold decision to create the Foundation’s new Primary Division. This new structure is recognition of the importance of this stage in our children's development and will allow the value set of the Foundation to evolve and grow through our youngest pupils.

‘I am looking forward to working with the Heads of the Nursery, Beech House, Hesketh House and Park Road to develop greater opportunities and continuity for our young pupils and their families, drawing together the strengths of each individual part of the Primary Division, whilst still allowing each separate setting to focus upon the differing needs of their children either by age, stage or gender.’

After reading Education at The University of Durham, and later completing a Masters Degree in Education with the Open University, Sue started her career in primary education at an international school in Kuwait, before teaching at St Mary’s Hall, Stonyhurst for 6 years.  In 2005 she was appointed as Deputy Head of the Boys’ Junior School at Bury Grammar, before joining Park Road, the Foundation’s Boys’ Junior School, as its Deputy in 2011, becoming its Head in 2016.  Sue is currently enjoying a secondment to the role of Head of Beech House, the Foundation’s Infant School, where she is relishing the opportunity to experience first-hand the development of the Foundation’s youngest pupils. Sue’s two children both attend the School; having joined the Reception Class in Beech House, they are now in Years 9 and 10 respectively.
