Runners from the Girls’ and Boys’ Divisions competed in the GM Cross Country Championships at Heaton Park at the beginning of February. Despite challenging conditions, and with particularly tough terrain at the bottom of the course, these young athletes showcased incredible strength and determination.

Year 9 pupil Beatrix led the way, an impressive feat that set her apart by a significant margin: her dominant performance earned her first place and the title of Greater Manchester Schools Champion!

In addition to Beatrix’s outstanding achievement, Sasha (Year 11) and Eliza (Year 10) both contributed to the strong performance of the Inter girls (Year 10/11) team. This team finished first overall, with Sasha securing 6th place individually and Eliza’s efforts also helping push the team to victory.

These three athletes, along with others from Greater Manchester, have qualified to represent the region at the National Championships in Sussex on Saturday 15 March.

The Girls’ Division PE Department is incredibly proud of Beatrix, Sasha and Eliza, whose dedication and resilience in difficult conditions helped Bolton School make a mark at the event, and of all the girls who took part and gave their best in such tough conditions.

The Boys’ Division is also proud of pupils Aryan and Ethan (Year 9), Sasha (Year 8) and Billy and Amos (Year 7), who competed in the Greater Manchester competition following their impressive performances at the Town race.
