Storytelling with Ivana Fletcher

Infants Literacy

Author Ivana Fletcher visited Bolton School infants and they enjoyed an interactive, entertaining session reading her book ‘The Singing Cicada’, which involved lots of singing along. This book tells the story of insects who wanted to join Miss Nightingale’s singing class and aims to voice a message about the importance of loving who you are and not changing to fit in or be someone you are not. The children were very excited by the opportunity of ‘meeting’ the insects, as Ivana brought specimens of the insects with her. To end the session, the children received signed copies of the book from Ivana.
