Eighteen local primary schools offered up their high-flying Year 6 maths pupils in teams of four to compete in a Primary Maths Challenge, held and hosted by Bolton School Girls' Division.
Working together, boys and girls answered a number of challenging maths questions under timed conditions. The morning was filled with much hard work as each school competed to accrue the most points. Bolton School Sixth Form girls marked the entry papers and by 12.00 noon, Head of Girls’ Division Mrs Lynne Kyle was ready to present 1st, 2nd and 3rd places to the winning schools. Third place was awarded to St Saviour’s Ringley CE Primary school, second place went to Cherry Tree School from Bolton and first place to Our Lady of Lourdes RC Primary School. Each child received a certificate and the winning team received a prize to take back to their school.
The Girls’ Division Maths Department also announced that a new online Maths competition would launch for primary schools further afield, in the new year. Details, once finalised would be posted on Twitter.
