Year 8 pupil Ruby Spencer recently competed in the British Artistic Gymnastics North West Classics Competition. This four-piece event took place in early November at Robin Park, Wigan.
Ruby competed in the Zinc level category against competitors aged 12+ years. She performed very well in a field of talented gymnasts both from her own club, City of Preston Gymnastics, and from clubs from across the North West.
The gymnasts took part in both county and regional competitions for all four pieces: uneven bars, beam, vault and floor. Ruby’s achievements were as follows:
Lancashire | North West |
---|---|
Bars: Gold Beam: Gold Vault: Bronze Floor: Bronze | Bars: Gold Beam: Gold Floor: Bronze |
These fantastic results meant that Ruby was awarded the title of ‘All Around Double Champion for Lancashire and the North West’!
Ruby’s mum Sonya Spencer said: ‘Ruby would like to send a huge thank you to School, for all the support messages she received, to her team mates and coaches for their encouragement and the judges for spending their time supporting the sport she loves.’
