Bolton School Girls’ Division Senior School is set to host a programme of lectures 'in person' by the Bolton branch of the Historical Association once again. Last year, the talks were forced to go virtual.
The schedule of lectures has now been finalised for the forthcoming academic year and the presentations will take place once a month from September to March at 7.30pm in the Girls’ Division Sutcliffe Studio. The first evening on Monday 13 September will be with Professor Charles Esdaile who will talk about ‘Stuart Spectres and Roundhead Revenants: the Bolton Massacre and the Ghosts of the English Civil War.’ Entry is free for Historical Association members and Bolton School staff and pupils, and £4 for non-members. Teachers who attend can ask for a CPD certificate.
The Historical Association offers a varied programme of lectures by speakers of the highest calibre and other interesting talks which lie ahead include: ‘Curing’ Homosexuality in India, 1970-1999’, ‘Cresse Son of Genta: A Forgotten Medieval Jew’, ‘Drawing the First World War to a Conclusion’, ‘Presidency, Power and Pestilence: Thomas Wentworth’s Government of the North in the 1630s’, ‘A Queen, a Spy, a Warrior and Three French Women in England in the Reign of Charles I’.
