Year 6 pupils in the Junior Girls’ School of Bolton School presented a thought provoking and moving Remembrance Assembly, attended by their cohorts in Years 3, 4 and 5.
The School Choir opened the assembly before the Y6 girls went on to describe the conditions faced by soldiers in the First World War, the history behind Armistice Day and the reason that the poppy has become such a well know symbol of remembrance today since it was first introduced in 1921.
Headteacher Mrs Laverick said:
The girls’ readings, poems and songs were a fitting tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for our future.
In line with the rest of the school and the country, there was an impeccably observed two minute silence at 11.00am.
