Bolton School Girls’ Division’s Year 9 netball team has won the Masterclass GSA U14 Netball Tournament, which involved 21 teams from across the country.
The weekend event saw the group stages taking place at Condover Hall, Shrewsbury and the Girls’ Division players enjoying a very successful day on court with the team, captained by Georgia Clarkson, completing the day undefeated and through to the trophy competition. The following day, with four hard fought fixtures against difficult opponents, including Francis Holland, Maynard, Manchester High School for Girls and Notting Hill and Ealing, the team were undefeated once again and through to the competition final.
The final was against top placed team Godolphin and Latymer, who, like Bolton School, had been undefeated on their second day of the tournament. The Girls’ Division team, having already defeated them in the group stages, was confident and composed, cruising to victory in the final 18-8. The girls’ thrilled netball coach, Ms Farrimond-Goff, said: ‘A well earnt and deserving result after giving every effort throughout the match and the weekend. Congratulations to all students that participated: Lana Bakker, Scarlett Bowie, Georgia Clarkson, Pippa Critchley, Lois Cowin, Ashriya Fernando, Marissa Hollinghurst, Molly Neville, Olivia Jones, Daisy-Lee Strange. She welcomed questions from the students and highlighted the importance of dedication and resilience whilst maintaining a balance of academic and social life.
