Jasper Daniels, a Year 4 pupil in the Junior Boys’ School at Bolton School, had an incredible weekend of competing in The Lowlands Skiing Championships in The Netherlands.
Exceeding expectations for an international competition, eight year old Jasper placed first for Britain and 3rd overall in the U10 category on both days.
Jasper came away with two individual bronze medals and his podium finishes earned points for the GB team who then also placed 3rd overall in The Nations Cup.
A delighted Mrs Gardner, Jasper’s mum said: ‘In August of this year, Jasper won the English Indoor Championships, racing against the top skiers from around the UK. The Lowlands Indoor Championships in The Netherlands was his first international competition. Jasper understood that racing against competitors from all different countries would be an entirely new and much bigger challenge!
He skied brilliantly, under enormous pressure and we were thrilled when he finished in a podium position behind two very speedy Belgians! Getting bronze overall and first place out of the British skiers was an outstanding result and is largely down to his determination, focus and his ongoing commitment to achieve his goals.
Jasper started skiing recreationally aged 4 and then began race training and competing a year ago. He is now signed as an U10 athlete with Precise Racing.
