The British Championships in Tignes was, overall, a brilliant end to a brilliant season for Jasper Daniels, a Year 5 pupil in the Junior Boys’ School of Bolton School.
Jasper took first place in his first Giant Slalom race and followed this up with first place in his second Giant Slalom race, gaining the British Giant Slalom Champion title.
A small mistake in Slalom, and subsequent disqualification, unfortunately cost him his slalom title, but luckily his Global Slalom performance was so high that it held him at 3rd overall for points, which meant he came away with three medals, two gold and a bronze, £50 prize money, a GB goodie bag and some GB earbuds!
This was the end of Jasper’s 2023-2024 season and, having competed in 23 competitions across 6 countries, he had secured 21 first place finishes, a second and a sixth place. The season concludes with Jasper holding the following titles: National Schools English Indoor Champion, National Schools British Indoor Champion, GBR Series Indoor Overall Champion, English Indoor Champion, British Indoor Champion, Lowlands Indoor Champion (International), Anglo-Scottish Alpine Champion, English Slalom Alpine Champion, English Overall Alpine Champion and British Giant Slalom Champion.
This season was Jasper’s last as an U10. When the next ski season opens, he will be at the bottom of the group, climbing the ladder as an U12 racer.
