Earlier in the Term, Year 6 pupils in the Junior Girls’ School at Bolton School, exhibited and reflected upon how their collaborative work in Science had helped improve their learning. The girls showed off their work in the School Library to the School’s Primary Division Heads as they considered how working together had promoted creative and critical thinking in their Science topic, Evolution and Inheritance. They considered what had gone well, what had been difficult, what skills they thought they had developed and what they had learnt about the way that they learn during the project.
Deputy Head, Mrs Helen Holt, said: ‘The collaboration work links perfectly with our Hesketh House Habits. There was clear evidence of girls improving their oracy and collaboration skills. Pupils learnt to co-operate more effectively; they learnt to actively listen to others, they grew in confidence when giving and receiving feedback, becoming more active and inquisitive learners, they made connections between subjects, learning to reflect on their learning and working creatively together to produce imaginative final presentations. The girls' work links to initiatives taking place across our Foundation, with creativity increasingly embedded across aspects of school life.'
