Earlier this week, as the Summer Term began, the boys and staff of Park Road were delighted to welcome Mrs Claire Finch as the new Head of the Boys’ Junior School.
Claire was educated at Withington Girls’ School and then at Newcastle University, where she read Philosophy, before completing her PGCE at Manchester Metropolitan University. Prior to joining Park Road, Claire served as the Deputy Head (Pastoral) at Altrincham Preparatory School for Boys, having originally joined the school in 2015. Before then, Claire taught primary classes of all ages at a state Academy Trust school in Salford, as well as being Chair of Governors at Alderley Edge Community Primary School.
Reflecting upon her appointment, Claire commented:
“I am absolutely delighted to have joined Park Road as its new Head.
“My ten years of service at Altrincham Preparatory School have given me a strong belief in the value of boys-only education and a deep understanding of how to help each boy thrive, both academically and personally. My own educational philosophy is simple but heartfelt: I believe every boy deserves the opportunity to reach his full potential and to grow into the very best person he can be.
“It is a privilege to be joining such a vibrant, caring, and ambitious school community, and I am incredibly excited to get started. I look forward to working in partnership with the boys, staff, and parents of Park Road as we embark on this new chapter together.”
Commenting on Claire’s arrival, Sue Faulkner, Head of Primary Division at Bolton School, said:
“During the recruitment process for the Park Road Headship undertaken in the Autumn Term, Claire’s passion for, and experience of, teaching in an all-boys' environment, and her instinctive understanding of the value of our extracurricular programme, led her to stand out amongst an incredibly strong field of candidates.
“I am delighted that Claire has now taken up the role of Head of Park Road, and I know that my teaching colleagues at Park Road are equally as pleased by her appointment. We are all now very much looking forward to helping her to settle in, and to then working with her in her leadership of our thriving school.”
